WHO WE ARE
Mpumalanga Artificial Intelligence Student Hackathon, is a provincial competition of student hackers hosted jointly by Universities in the Mpumalanga province, namely: The Tshwane University of Technology, Faculty of ICT at eMalahleni campus and the University of Mpumalanga, Faculty of Agriculture and Natural Sciences in support of the National Development Plan (Vision 2030) of the Government of the Republic of South Africa by addressing Chapter 9 of the plan that focuses on “Improving Education, Training and Innovation, which is also highlighted as one of the socio-economic outcomes on the Mpumalanga Vision 2030. The Hackathon is further aligned with hosting universities’ strategic pillars; the TUT 2020–2025 strategic pillars to prepare future ready graduates who make societal impact through research, innovation, engagement, and technology transfer to foster growth, development and sustainability; UMP vision 2022 which is to “Establish an institutional environment conducive to high impact scholarship, research and innovation”.
